Why Was It So Easy for Kandi to Forgive Her Escape Group Member That
By Guest Contributor, Moh
You and me, let's get down
Even though you claim that you've been around
I betcha you can't hang
I betcha you can't hang
Sorry for the musical interlude, I was in the moment!
Mama Joyce's streets confirmed that she will be an active participant on this episode, and I am here for it. I am looking forward to her saying "now Kand-ah. Let's not forget that she has "every kind of diamond, and this right here is a Padparadscha Sapphire set in 18 Kt gold".
Enter our girl Kandi Burruss. We start at OLG – because cross promotion. We are introduced to Tan, an original member of Xscape. We find out that she was eliminated because of their original manager, and an ultimatum. I think we've met Tan before. Was she called a "cousin" during Kandi's wedding?
As we peel back the layers of the onion, we find out that LaTocha's now husband "Rocky" was a part of the dissolution of the group. Apparently he filled in a management gap between the second, Off The Hook, and third albums Traces of My Lipstick. Clearly one of the problems was that LaTocha placed Rocky in a Svengali like role. He appointed her the "group".
Kandi and Tiny have been in contact and collaborating since Xscape disbanded. They meet to discuss Kandi's hesitantly to move forward with the tour. We are now availed more insight. The Scott Sisters are happy to suck at the teats of Tiny and Kandi. They prove that their thirst to regain notoriety is leveraged off of the backs of their more successful counterparts.
Kandi and LaTocha bump heads at a group meeting. Kandi reveals that she believes that LaTocha used Xscape's third album as leverage for her solo record deal. Clearly, as stated on my first recap, LaTocha was the "SANGER"! Let's harken back to episode one. We are now clearly shown that there are two teams. The Scott Sisters vs. Kandi and Tiny.
Ah! The base discussion of coin. Tiny makes certain that we are fully aware that they were supposed to receive $4M for their last album. Too bad LaTocha refused to promote the product and that fee was reduced to only $800K. You know that Kandi does not play about her money!
"What I need is understanding
How can we communicate
If you don't hear what I say?"
( musical interlude)
Well damn! Did Tameka Scott just admit that she "told a whole bunch of lies on Kandi" to defend her sister?! All because she wanted to defend her sister for her attempt to get a solo project. I know I do not need these sort of friends.
LaTocha and Kandi have a come to Jesus moment. Kandi let's us know that she was on an island of her own. After her brother (Patrick) died, she was left to fend for herself. It sounds like he was the glue that enabled the young ladies to set their differences aside.
Hey Todd! Let's walk baby Ace in the 30031. Get your Cascade on. That baby is the most cute!!!
Kandi and LaTocha have decided to collaborate on the set list for the tour. We get to plug The Kandi Factory. For the BET Awards, they are allotted four minutes for their three song medley.
Uncomfortable topic alert. Tamika Scott introduces us to her daughter's O'shun and Taniyah. She lets us know that management encouraged her to abort O'shun. O'shun is planning her wedding. We get to see a family bonding moment that I am here for.
Party on down to the Xscape beat
Just kick it
Rehearsal time! We get to see the girls align to prepare for the tour. The sense of urgency is palpable as the shows are selling out. Mama Joyce is in the building!!! I've been waiting for her. Did my "boo thing" create her own haiku?
Tocha got a booty
Kandi got a butt
Tiny got a little ass
And Tamika got an Astro ass!
As I stand here contemplating
On the right thing to decide
Will I take the wrong direction
All my life, where will I go?"
Musical extro
Next week we get Jermaine Dupri and the onset of the tour.
